Golden Eagles return to the diamond Friday

In less than 24 hours, college baseball season will be upon us once again as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles return to the diamond as the reigning Conference USA champions. They’ll be hosting the Northeastern Huskies for the three game series starting at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
USM has a lot to play for in 2017 coming off its first regional appearance since 2001, its first 40 win season since 2010 and its first CUSA crown since 2009.
Heading into the new campaign, one of the bright spots looks to be the pitching. Starting on the mound with junior lefty Kirk McCarty, he’ll be the anchor on Saturdays trying to walk the walk and talk the talk.
Hayden Roberts will get the nod on opening day tomorrow and Cody Carroll on Sunday.
