Gold Star Families Remembrance Week
The U.S. Senate approved a resolution authored by U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith to honor families of fallen members of the armed forces this month.
September 23rd through the 29th is designated as Gold Star Families Remembrance Week. This is to commemorate families affected by the loss of a loved one who died in the service of the United States.
Crusaders for Veterans President Kevin Cuttill tells News 25 this is a step in the right direction to change the verbiage regarding Gold Star license plates in Mississippi. “DMV’s paperwork just says only a wife or a mother can apply for the plates. Well, that’s ridiculous. We are trying to get the verbiage corrected to where fathers, spouses, parents, siblings, children can put in for that plate.”
Gold Star Families Remembrance Week was approved by unanimous consent last Thursday.
