Go-Ruck challenge honoring Officer McKeithen

Sunday morning Highway 90 will be filled with community members paying tribute to Officer Robert McKeithen in a very unique way.

The ‘Go Ruck’ challenge will begin at 9 a.m. and registration begins at 8. All of the proceeds from the $20 registration fee will be going straight back to Officer McKeithen’s family.

The ruck will begin at Margaritaville and loop around at the Biloxi Lighthouse and end up back at Margaritaville.

A ruck usually requires wearing a weighted backpack, but organizers say it is not required for this ruck. They just want to make sure Officer McKeithen is honored in the biggest way possible. Go-Ruck challenge Coordinator Donnie Handler said, “Biloxi and the whole entire Mississippi Gulf Coast is very family oriented and I think this is the best way for us to come together and support our local police and the fallen officer.”

Margaritaville Public Relations Director Ann-Carter Tate said, “Yeah, absolutely and as soon as we got in touch with Donnie about this event, Margaritaville just wanted to jump right in and participate. I mean, it is such a great cause and obviously one near and dear to our heart.”

Everyone that participates will receive an exclusive ‘go ruck’ t-shirt. If you can’t make the ruck you can still donate to the family by clicking here.
