Girl Scout Troop helps put on adoption drive in Ocean Springs

Although COVID moved their troop meetings online for months, Girl Scout Troop 3577 has still been able to help find a way to help their community.

Saturday at T&N Feed and Supplies in Ocean Springs, Troop 3577 will be teaming up with the Humane Society of South Mississippi to put on an adoption and pet supplies drive from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Three troop members who are working towards earning their bronze award came up with the idea of having the event because they saw a problem in their community and wanted to provide a sustainable solution.

When asked what their favorite part of planning and executing this project was this is what the girls had to say. Fifth Grader Blayklee Steele said, “Mostly learning about the animals and making the posters.”

Fifth grader Makenzie Rocco said, “Helping the animals.”

Fifth grader Kamoriah Walley said, “Helping them find a good home.”

Assistant Troop Leader Danielle Garner said, “We will have the Humane Society with us onsite also, but the girls are doing, this is all 100 percent them from planning until we finish this.”

Troop 3577 is also planning another adoption drive for sometime in April.
