Get out to Vote
The Mississippi Poor People’s Campaign along with the NAACP hosted a ‘Get out to Vote’ rally at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Biloxi.
The goal of the rally was to encourage people not to forget about the crucial runoff election next week. Reverend Dr. William Barber II was the guest speaker, energizing the community to make their voices heard.
This event is a ‘Call to Action’ for all faith communities and residents to come together to take a moral stand against the attacks of their voting rights. Reverend Barber said, “We need everybody here to go tell somebody. We need you to grab somebody. We need you to get somebody until a voice like thunder comes out of Mississippi, until we stretch out our hands, our ballot and when we do, I’m going to come back because I know God will have showed up right here in Mississippi.”
The NAACP looks to change the perception of low voter turnouts for special runoffs by making sure all citizens know what’s at stake.
