How to get on the No Call List

Do you ever get one of those pesky calls from a number you don’t recognize and a person, or automated message, on the other line tries to sell you something? Well, now you don’t have to.
Thanks to a law that went into effect July 1st, in addition to landlines, cellphones can now be added to the no call list.
As part of a statewide effort to show people how to get on the list, commissioners Sam Britton, Cecil Brown and Brandon Presley made a stop in Biloxi today to inform the public and answer questions about the Mississippi No Call Program. The new law prohibits telemarketers from calling numbers that appear on the list. Southern District Public Service Commissioner Sam Britton said, “It’s amazing, these no calls. It really is a problem and the last few times I’ve spoken I happen to ask the group ‘How many of you received telemarketing calls to your cell phone within the last seven days?’ it’s amazing, it’s like 80 percent of the people raise their hands. This is truly a problem and this is one more step to help combat that problem.”
Those who wish to add their phone to the no call list should contact the Public Service Commission at 1-800-356-6429 or go online at psc.state.ms.us/nocall.
