George County makes arrest in burglary investigation

Deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest Friday in an investigation into a burglary in the Shipman community.

Deputies answered a call Thursday regarding a home intruder in the 100 block of Scout Trail in the Shipman community of George County.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., George County Communications Center received a 911 call stating that an unknown male was in the home. Deputies arrived and were able to locate a subject matching the description of the intruder walking on Shipman Road.

While interviewing the subject, deputies discovered several items of frozen meat in the subject’s possession. The suspect, Wilton Grady Dickerson, 36, of Lucedale was taken into custody after being positively identified by the victim.

During the investigation, deputies also found that Dickerson had entered the premises of another home in the 2200 block of Shipman Road, where he had stolen the frozen meat. Dickerson was placed under arrest and booked into the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

Dickerson has been charged with one count of commercial burglary and one count of burglary of a dwelling, with a $5,000 bond for each charge. He also has a hold on him by Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation.
