Gautier Police Look for Answers in Murder

Authorities are still trying to determine just what was behind the shooting spree that claimed the lives of three Mississippians yesterday.
Today Police released some new details at a press conference in Gautier, including a 911 call and a message the suspect left behind.
Shannon Lamb made a grim call to police before their grisly discovery at the home he shared with his significant other, Amy Prentiss.
Police say Lamb didn’t stop here. Not long after, Delta State University was put on lockdown after a professor was shot and killed. According to authorities, this shooting was also at the hands of Shannon Lamb, who was an instructor at DSU.
Police are still trying to piece together what led to Lamb’s shooting spree, a difficult task after Lamb shot himself Monday night. “We have a suspect that’s unable to talk to us because he’s deceased. We’re going to keep on with our investigation and we’ll find an answer,” said Matt Hoggatt with Gautier PD.
Gautier police released a note Lamb left behind, reading: “I wish I could take it back. I loved Amy and she is the only person who ever loved me.”
As investigators look for answers, a community mourns the loss of one of their own, a woman described as a dedicated, loving mother who helped promote her daughter’s singing career. Fransisco Gonzales, a friend of Amy Prentiss and the director of her daughter’s music video, said, “Her love for people was contagious. That’s the way I looked at her. She was always with a positive attitude and her ambition for her daughter was incredible. She worked very hard to get her to where she got.”
Toni Camp, Oasis Church executive pastor, said, “She loved young people, she was involved with our students and youth. She liked helping all their dreams come true, as much as possible.”
