Gautier family loses everything in house fire
A fire has left a Gautier family without a home for the coming weeks.
Neighbor Sarah Smith said, “Smoke was just, a whole bunch of smoke was just escaping from the bed but I ran down the street and I was calling the police and I was like, I think my neighbor’s house on fire and as soon as I called them it went like ‘poof’, like it was just a big ole explosion. The back was popping and everything. It was people right here. I was trying to yell at them to get them away for the house because it was exploding and stuff.”
For the Warren family they would leave their home for just another day of work, but it would be cut short due to an alarming call that would alter their way of living. Homeowner Sandra Warren said, “My supervisor got me and brought me here and when I got here the house was inflamed. It was very devastating. You know, see what you work for, everything going up in smoke, and everything is hurtful.”
Authorities were not able to identify the exact cause of the fire but stated it began in the back of the house. As for those that know Sandra and her husband, they are determined to return the support that she so freely gave to them. Family friend Carolyn Morrow said, “And when I was in the hospital, the first person to my door was Sandra and every day it was what can I do for you. Now that she’s the one in need I want to stand beside her and help her in any way that I can and encourage our community to come together because it’s people like her have made a difference in other people’s lives. And now that the shoes on the other foot. I just pray that everybody does the same for her. ”
For Warren, she says she’s simply blessed. “It is a blessing and we are very thankful that nobody was in the house because if my husband and I was in the house we might have not made it but I thank God. Everything happened for a reason. I just trust his process.”
