FunTime USA Hits a Roadblock

FunTime USA owners and supporters filled Gulfport City Hall today wearing t-shirts that read “Gulfport City Council: Vote Yes.”
They were hoping city leaders would decide to re-zone the current property that FunTime USA owners plan to rebuild on. Just before they could take any action, the land owner of that property withdrew the request to re-zone. It came as quite a shock to FunTime USA co-owner Romy Simpson. She tells News 25 she and her partner will still look to rebuild the amusement park in Gulfport. “We have several plans that we can implement. It’s just a matter of, it’s going to be very expensive for us because we have site plans that have been engineered. We have things that have been done. Time has been invested into this project. It’s just a little set back but we have a lot of support and a lot of opportunities and we’re going to be running with them.”
Simpson left City Hall and went straight into another meeting with an attorney. She tells News 25 by the end of the week, FunTime USA developers hope to announce a back-up plan that could be bigger and better than before.
