Funeral Industry Comes to Beau Rivage

A convention all about caring for the dead is quite alive at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi.
The Mississippi and Louisiana Funeral Directors Association Convention is in day two. The annual event features speakers, an expo, vendors, hands on exhibits, and creates opportunities for people in the funeral industry to network.
Today, guests were listening to motivational speaker and author of “View from a Hearse, Lighten Up.” A representative with an exhibit at the expo tells News 25 he really enjoys coming to this convention because it involves two states. Bobby Pierce with American Benefit Life Insurance Company said, “The vendors traveled throughout the state. There’s hundreds of funeral homes. There’s like 400 plus funeral homes in Mississippi, probably 500 plus funeral homes in Louisiana. So, it’s hard for us to come to each one. Here, they’re all in one place so we get to meet a lot of new people that we wouldn’t get to meet otherwise.”
Exhibitors tell News 25 it is important for the community to care about making a funeral meaningful because it can help families transition better after a death.
The convention wraps up tomorrow.
