Fundraiser for Gulfport Officer Manuel Santos at MGM Park

It was Gulfport Night at MGM Park in Biloxi, not only did they recognize the city, but they also held a fundraiser for a Gulfport police officer.

Several booths were set up along the concourse and Gulfport city employees got to throw out the first pitch of the Biloxi Shuckers game against the Birmingham Barons.

Tonight, the Biloxi Shuckers decided to hold a fundraiser for Gulfport Officer Manuel Santos who sustained significant injuries while on deployment overseas. Account Executive Stephanie Chapman said, “We wanted to definitely be involved some way. Obviously, he’s not home yet, but we wanted to do something for him and his family so we decided that our launch-a-ball proceeds are going to benefit him and his medical costs. Basically it’s a game that we’ll do at the end of the game and everybody can either donate money or spend a dollar and get a ball that they can throw out of the field, but proceeds are going to benefit him and his family.”

Santos sustained his injury during military action which include a severe concussion, lacerations, neck injury, and back injury. He is currently in Germany receiving treatment.

If you would like to donate, you can send your donations through G-COPS.
