Free/ reduced meal applications now open for Harrison County School District

Today is the start of online applications going live for free and reduced meals in the Harrison County School District.

Even if your child received a free or reduced meal in the past, HCSD says you need to update and resubmit your application. They make this a requirement in case of household size or income changes.

On average about 72 percent of students in the district are on free or reduced meals. When on these plans, it can save a household nearly $3,000.

The applications are up online until about mid-September. HCSD Food Service Director Brad Barlow said, “We have an obligation to feed our children. However, having those meal applications filed as early as possible, maybe during the registration process. It really helps us out with our book keeping so that we can go ahead and iron out those details. Go ahead and start feeding those children whether it be free or reduced price.”

You can get more information and begin registration tomorrow by visiting http://www.harrison.k12.ms.us/.
