Free Meals for Military and First Responders at Slap Ya Momma’s

Slap Ya Momma’s Barbecue rolled out the red carpet for military and first responders.
About 700 customers filled their plates buffet style at the restaurant in Biloxi. The line was out the door when it opened at 11 Thursday morning, all eager to get their free Thanksgiving meal.
Managers at Slap Ya Momma’s tell News 25 this is their way to give back to the military community and first responders after they give so much to us on a daily basis. Slap Ya Momma’s Owner Henry Wintzell said, “They give up not only themselves, their families. We’re their family for the day and it’s just something we enjoy doing and it’s getting bigger every year.”
Josh Gallaspy with Merchants Foodservice said, “They are the ones who work every day. They are the reason that we have this holiday and can do these things. We can give up a little bit of our time to give them a hot meal and a free lunch.”
Kitchen Manager Lloyd Quinn said, “This touches me very personally because I’m retired military myself. It just gives me a way to give back to the people that I came up with and the people that are coming in.”
Merchants Foodservice as well as volunteers from the Coast helped provide the meals and extra hands on Thanksgiving.
This is the third year Slap Ya Momma’s hosted this type of Thanksgiving.
