Free haircuts for the community

Many people say ‘if you look good, you feel even better.’ That’s why one local organization did its part to make sure Gulf Coast students returned to school confident about their appearance.
The Mount Olive Lodge in Gulfport partnered with students at Chris’ Beauty College to provide free haircuts to the community. Services started at 8 a.m. and stopped at noon.
The organization usually focuses on providing students with free school supplies, but took this year as an opportunity to go in a different direction. Jeffrey Jenkins with Mt. Olive Lodge said, “We were going to go with local barbers in the neighborhood, but one of the Mason brothers suggested that we go and grab students from Chris’ Beauty College and also let them meet potential new clients and also give them some practice.”
If you missed out on the free chop today, there’s still an opportunity to receive a quality haircut at a low price. Chris’ Beauty College offers $8 haircuts on Wednesday and Thursday between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m.
