Fourth victim from New Year’s Eve shooting has died, coroner says

A fourth person has died from a shooting at a block party on New Year’s Eve.

Our media partner, the Sun Herald reports that Nathaniel Harris, 52, of Gulfport died about 8 p.m. Sunday, according to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.

He and other victims were taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport after an altercation broke out at what was supposed to be a family gathering. The gathering had grown into a block party when the altercation escalated and gunfire erupted at a home in the 12oo block of Lewis Avenue in Gaston Point, according to police reports.

An autopsy is planned this week.
