Fourth annual Kids Safety Fair

Saturday dozens of kids and their parents filled Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport for the fourth annual Kids Safety Fair.
It was a day packed full of information on how to protect your children. There was information about Amber alerts and the endangered child alert system and information on child abuse prevention, seat belt and car safety, interactive tours of police cars, fire trucks, and an ambulance.
The theme of the event has always been being a super hero and everyone came dressed in their best capes. WJZD Promotions Director Michael Daniels said, “Just making sure the kids find that super hero within themselves. That’s the thing, even though you have the capes, just making sure they believe in themselves. You never know, they could also help save their siblings or even an adult’s life by making a simple phone call or doing simple things. That was kind of the encouraging thing to be the hero within yourself.”
The K&J Foundation also sponsored its third annual butterfly release at the fair.
