Fourteen mile walk benefits CASA

A sea of green marched along Highway 90 this morning for a very special cause.
Over 30 participants walked about 14 miles to raise money and awareness for CASA in South Mississippi. Half started in Pass Christian and the other half near the Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi. Both parties crossed the finish line at Jones Park around 10 a.m. with celebratory green donuts in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
Officials say this effort raised about $12,000 for the CASA branches in Harrison, Jackson, and Hancock counties. Sheri Bevis with Gulfport Rotary Club said, “It’s a great opportunity to let people know. We saw people honking at us on the highway and stuff, just to bring awareness to Extra Table last year and then CASA this year just so they know that we feel like these are very worthwhile causes and we hope other people will donate as well.”
This walk was organized by the Gulfport Rotary Club and One Coast plus many sponsors who helped out as well.
