Fourteen Coast Projects to Be Submitted to MS Legislature for BP Money
More than $85 million in South Mississippi projects are on the table to receive BP oil spill settlement funding. In all, the Gulf Coast Restoration Fund Advisory Board has selected 14 projects for state legislators to consider for funding here on the Gulf Coast.
Among the 14 South Mississippi projects approved by the board and slated to be presented December 1st to the state legislature for approval are: expansion and preparation at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, restoration of Biloxi’s Saenger Theater and funding for the development of a creative complex with indoor and outdoor space at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs.
In all, the advisory board is recommending these and eleven other coast projects to receive BP funds totaling $85.5 million. These 14 projects were selected from 119 submitted to the board. Each project is required to have at least a 20-percent match of the funding requested. The state legislature will have the final say on which projects will receive funding and just how much money they’ll get.
