Four charged in connection with Derry Lane shooting

Four people, including two juveniles, have been charged in connection with yesterday’s shooting on Derry Lane in Ocean Springs.

Twenty-year-old Tyler Ladner has been charged with home invasion and two counts of directing a minor to commit a felony. Eighteen-year-old Kaitlyn Valladarez has been charged with directing a minor to commit a felony and accessory after the fact.

The two minors charged are 17-year-old Robert Beauvias with home invasion and 16-year-old Steven Batholomew who has been charged with home invasion, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm in a vehicle.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says the shooting occurred after an argument between Ladner and his neighbor over the neighbor’s dog. Ladner went back to his house, grabbed a gun, and, along with Robert Beauvais and Steven Bartholomew, returned to his neighbor’s home.

Sheriff Ezell says the three barged into the house to continue the argument, the neighbor then drove off, and the sheriff reports Batholomew shot out the car’s back window, hitting the man in the shoulder. He was treated and later released at Ocean Springs Hospital.
