Fort Bayou Drawbridge in Ocean Springs will shut down for repairs starting March 14th

Just as a reminder, the Fort Bayou Drawbridge in Ocean Springs will completely shut down on Sunday, March 14th at 10 p.m. for repairs.

Mayor Shea Dobson and the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce have worked with MDOT and neighboring cities over the past few days to post road signs and maps of detour routes in specific areas and local businesses.

Officials say you’ll have to give yourself enough travel time to get to your destination once the bridge closes.

The closure is part of an ongoing $20 million bridge repair project to rehabilitate and upgrade the drawbridge on state route 609. During the closure, crews will be working to replace the bridge bearings and shafts.

The closure is expected to last up to 45 days.
