Former USM standout called up from Double-A Birmingham Barons

Birmingham Barons outfielder and former Southern Miss slugger Mason Robbins was called up to the Triple-A ranks earlier today.

He’s only played in five games for the Birmingham Barons thus far in 2018, but is hitting at a clip of .350. He’ll be playing with the Charlotte Knights upon his new promotion and it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be back in Biloxi when the Barons play the Shuckers to close out 2018.

Up in Hattiesburg those Golden Eagles are red hot and these two players are a big reason. Luke Reynolds is the Conference USA Hitter of the Week for the second time this season after running his season-best hitting streak to 13 games.

Meanwhile, Nick Sandlin is on another level this year, garnering his second-straight complete game shutout. This is the fourth time this year he’s been recognized by Collegiate Baseball which is a national honor.
