Former Shucker Devin Williams up for NL Reliever of the Year
Former Biloxi Shucker Devin Williams had one of the best seasons ever for a relief pitcher and is now one of three finalists up for the Trevor Hoffman NL Reliever of the Year award.
The Milwaukee Brewers right hander led all MLB relievers with a 0.33 ERA and was tied for the league lead with 53 strikeouts.
Williams also struck out 53 percent of the batters he faced, breaking the previous single season record of 52.5 set by Aroldis Chapman in 2014.
If Williams ends up taking home the honors over Jeremy Jeffress and Trevor Rosenthal, it’ll be the third straight year a former Shucker wins the award with Josh Hader doing so in both 2018 and 2019.
The winner will be announced on Saturday prior to game four of the World Series.
