Former Councilwoman Honored in Gulfport Today

A former councilwoman known for her fighting spirit was honored in Gulfport today.
Today, loved ones of Libby Milner Roland, who passed away last November due to breast cancer, gathered at Westside Park to attend a ceremony where the pier and a live oak tree were dedicated in her name.
Her husband, Ron Roland, said “this is a great dedication to a really great and special woman, not because she’s just my wife but because she served the city of Gulfport well, she served with dignity.”
Elected in 2004, Libby Roland served on the Gulfport City Council for 9 years and played a huge role in appropriating the money to repair the piers, but unfortunately, she passed away before she could see them.
Loved ones say she was always proud to call Gulfport home and her dedication to Gulfport showed through her love of public service.
