Former Biloxi Shucker Brandon Woodruff returns to MGM Park
Earlier this month, former Biloxi Shuckers Pitcher Brandon Woodruff made his Major League pitching debut with the Milwaukee Brewers. Today, he was back in his old stomping grounds at MGM Park.
After three impressive starts with the Brew Crew, the Mississippi State alum was optioned back down to triple A on August 20th. Because of Tropical Storm Harvey, he was supposed to start tonight’s game for the Shuckers but that was changed to a simulated game due to weather.
A familiar place to be for Woodruff and yet unfamiliar territory after his time with Colorado Springs and then pitching at the big league level. “It was weird being back on the mound and it seems like it was yesterday, but just being here and obviously I’m from Mississippi so getting to see my family and friends, that was one of the biggest things. And just being out here, and with the games just it brings back a ton of memories as far as some games and had some really good games here, had some really good stretches here and just brings back all those memories. And hopefully I can take those and what I was feeling and carry them with me, and just go throughout the rest of the season.”
Woodruff says he expects to be back with the Major League club when the rosters expand on September 1st.
