Folds of Honor Golf Tournament at Grand Bear Golf Club

The Grand Bear Golf Club’s annual Folds of Honor Golf Tournament teed off today in Saucier. Despite a little drizzle early on, the tournament was a success.

With Veterans Day Wednesday, the Grand Bear Golf Club held their second annual golf tournament benefitting Folds of Honor. Head Golf Professional Ian Kahn says the goal of the tournament is to help some very deserving families. “Folds of Honor is a scholarship charity benefitting the children and spouses of fallen heroes in combat. It’s a great event. They have other iterations in other states and areas. We were toying with the idea for a couple of years now. We decided last year we would go full force.”

Tournament participation has grown since last year. Kahn says more than one hundred golfers took a swing for the cause. “We have around 104 right now and with COVID and the storm and everything else that has been going on its a number that we are happy with.”

Kahn says it’s always a good time on the course, but it’s even better when it’s for a great cause. “It’s for fun. It’s for an absolutely worthy cause that goes to families that do need it. Last year, the family that we gave it to could not have been happier. They were so ecstatic and grateful for everything they were given last year from the 10,000.”

The tournament was sponsored by 13 local businesses.
