Flooding in Pass Christian
The residents in Pass Christian saw the effects of the steady rain we’ve had all day.
The flood waters reached the front doors of some homes on Derrick Road off of Espy Avenue earlier today.
Several inches of water covered Derrick Road, one of several roads that were closed due to flooding.
Earlier today, News 25 spoke to some of the residents who say they knew the heavy rainfall was coming, but didn’t expect it to get like this.
Pass Christian resident Charlie Pryor said, “Most of the time there’s water accumulation on this street, not so much on Dale Road. This is the worst I’ve ever seen it. I’ve never left town for a storm. I’ve ridden them all out at home and I’ve never seen the water this high before.”
Pass Christian resident Tom Pickich said, “I’ve seen water across this road, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much rain out this way. I’m wondering how much more we have coming, not a whole lot I hope.”
Officials want to remind you to “turn around, don’t drown.” If a street is closed due to flooding, please heed that warning.
