Floats Arrive from New Orleans
Parading from New Orleans to Biloxi, the Krewe of Neptune rolled into town today.
If you happened to see their floats on I-10, they were traveling at a snail’s pace of only 25 miles per hours. The normally hour long commute took the Krewe nearly 8 hours to travel at that speed. Now that the floats are safe inside the Coast Convention Center, the Krewe will begin loading them full of thousands of Mardi Gras beads for their parade on Saturday. This year’s theme is “A Salute to Our Military.”
President of Neptune, Gerald Everett tells News 25 just what it takes to make a parade come together. “Just getting them here is a challenge but we get all these floats here. The beads came in Monday. We’ll starting loading those tonight and tomorrow night. They have to be wired for all the electrical work, all the sound, everything. Testing generators. It’s almost a week long process that we cram into about two or three days.”
The parade rolls out at 5:30 this Saturday. It will begin on Main Street and finish at the end of Caillavet Street next to the IP Casino.
