Flash flood warning issued in South Mississippi

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for areas in South Mississippi.

The advisory, which is until 5 p.m., includes east central Harrison County and southwestern Jackson County.

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the advisory area.

The area has gotten 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain, with 1 to 3 inches more expected over the course of the afternoon.

Flash flooding will be seen in small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as low-lying areas and places with poor drainage.

A Pass Christian resident reported nickel-sized hail that moved through the area about 1:10 p.m. and lasted about 15 minutes.
