Flag Day ceremony at Armed Forces Retirement Home

The Stars and Stripes flew proudly over a small crowd at the Armed Forces Retirement Home for a Flag Day ceremony.
Retired Gulfport District Fire Chief Donald Knox was the guest speaker for the event. Knox spoke on the history of the Pledge of Allegiance plus his connection with patriotism as a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Veterans at the ceremony tell News 25 what the American flag means to them. U.S. Army Veteran James Ball said, “It means everything to me. I gave 26 years in the Army so you know I’m dedicated to that.”
U.S. Army Veteran Dr. John Sylvia said, “The big thing we don’t realize but we have to realize that the flag is what we fight for and freedom.”
The Armed Forces Retirement Home holds a ceremony every year for Flag Day.
