Fishbone Alley Grand Opening on Sunday

Gulfport nears completion of Fishbone Alley just in time for the 20th anniversary of Cruisin’ the Coast.
Lights and colorful artwork now cover what used to be one of the city’s biggest eyesores. Officials hope the alley between 26th and 27th Avenue will transform into a popular, downtown attraction.
An unveiling ceremony will take place at 1 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, just in time for Cruisin’ the Coast. Gulfport Economic Development Director David Parker said, “It’s a great place to come down, hang out. It ties all the restaurants together. You walk through and you’re inspired by all the art. When you walk through three months from now, there’s going to be different art here. It’s always going to be evolving. It’s like our public art gallery.”
The $250,000 project includes artwork from locals, vertical gardens and a lighted walkway.
