First route day for garbage and recycling pickup in Harrison County

The new garbage and recycling services contract is now in effect for the cities onboard with the Harrison County Utility Authority.
Pass Christian, Long Beach, D’Iberville, and Biloxi are some of the areas Team Waste and Pelican Waste have started picking up garbage and recycling today.
Not a part of the new contract, the City of Gulfport has begun their new schedule as well. Still with Waste Pro, Gulfport’s public works department will be overseeing trash collection.
For Gulfport residents there is still a two-day pickup for garbage and the pickup routes will remain the same. Wayne Miller with the Public Works Department said, “They’re running a lot of trucks so they’re picking up pretty much everything they see. We’re excited to see where we’re going to be able to go with it. If your garbage is missed, please give them until the end of the day because it is a new contract, there’s going to be a little lag time potentially with new drivers, new routes, and whatnot.”
The number to call if you live in Gulfport and your garbage wasn’t picked up today is 228-868-5700. Recycling pick up for Gulfport residents has changed to every other week.
