First responders working scene near Jackson County Courthouse in Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- First Responders are working a scene near the Jackson County Courthouse.

According to the Pascagoula Police Department, there is not an active shooter situation and there is no threat to the public.

The scene is secure and there is a heavy police presence.  According to officials, one person has been injured.

Residents are asked to avoid this area at this time, as authorities are currently working an active investigation.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is taking over the investigation.
