First responders receive help to cope with loss

The loss of Officer McKeithen has affected first responders from across the Coast.

To help cope with the tragedy, the Biloxi Fire Department has had various meetings to help them grieve.

On Monday morning, the firefighters gathered together and met with a chaplain and had what they call ‘a big talk’ to discuss their feelings.

Today, the Mississippi Response Team came to the fire station to talk with the first responders who worked on the scene Sunday night.  Biloxi Fire Battalion Chief David Williams said, “You know, it is tough, especially when you get on scene. We are used to helping the public and when it is one of your own it hits home a little harder. It is a shock when you see someone laying there and you know they are your brother.”
