First Day Of School In Long Beach
The smell of new backpacks and pencils filled the air in the long beach school district as teachers welcomed students on the first day of school. Parents brought their kids in the front door at Quarles Elementary some smiles and of course some nervous jitters as well. Principal Jan Hansen greeted students hoping to comfort some and reunite with familiar faces along with Long Beach superintendent Jay Smith who is brand new to the district. Both are eager to start the New Year off right with new programs. Quarles Elementary has 24 homerooms and 60 staff members.
