First day of school in Biloxi

Today was the first day of school in Biloxi.

Biloxi Upper Elementary School students unloaded their buses this morning and were welcomed with smiles and hugs by teachers and staff. After about eight weeks away, students rushed into the gym anxiously waiting to read their class schedules for the new school year.

Principal Kelleigh Reynolds says the teachers and administration have been planning all summer and are very excited to welcome the students back and introduce new extracurricular activities. “Last year we introduced Tribe which is an after-school swim program for our fifth and sixth graders. This year, we’re also adding show choir and we’re offering a gardening club. Those are in addition to National Elementary Honor Society and Junior Beta Club as well as yearbook staff for our students.”

Principal Reynolds encourages parents to keep ongoing communication with the teachers and staff throughout the school year to ensure the students are successful.
