First day at new Gulfport High School

The first day of school brought a fresh start for Gulfport High School students as they walked the halls of a brand new campus.
All buildings are new besides the old ninth grade building which was renovated into the new administration facility. The institute buildings for juniors and seniors houses engineering and culinary arts labs, an auto-mechanics room, a courtroom for the law and safety program, plus a school store for marketing students to get hands on business experience.
Principal Michael Lindsey tells News 25 how eager teachers and students are to start the school year with brand new classrooms, equipment, and technology. “In the beginning, it’ll be the wow factor. It’ll be wow when you walk into the lobby, it’s amazing and the new classrooms, the teachers have worked hard setting up their new classrooms. Everybody started from scratch so it’s a little different this year, but I think they’ll be amazed. You walk out into the courtyard and the campus seems so much bigger.”
Gulfport High School holds over 1,500 students this year. Finishing touches on the construction project are expected to be complete by March.
