Firework Safety

As you head to your nearest fireworks stand to bring in the New Year with a bang, make sure you set them off responsibly. Ahead of the New Year’s Eve holiday, Mississippi fire officials are issuing safety warnings to try and stop house and brush fires. Often around New Year’s celebrations, the careless use of pyrotechnics can lead to fires. While the drought conditions have lessened across the state, fire officials still warn against setting of fireworks around brush or wooded areas. For the majority of cities here on the coast, it is illegal to set off fireworks, but you are allowed to set off fireworks on the beach because it is county property, but just be sure to clean up after yourself. A five year old girl gives a special Christmas present to two organizations here on the coast.
