Firefighters battle Sunday afternoon house fire in Moss Point

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV) — Firefighters in Moss Point responded to a fire Sunday afternoon that left part of a home heavily damaged.

According to the Moss Point Fire Department, crews were dispatched to Azalea Street around 4:45 p.m. on May 10, 2026, after reports of a house fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the front of the home engulfed in flames. Officials say the homeowner had already made it out safely and was not injured.

Members of C Shift quickly worked to extinguish the fire, successfully saving a large portion of the house and preventing the flames from spreading further.

While the home sustained extensive smoke damage and some water damage in areas untouched by the flames, firefighters noted that a closed bedroom door helped slow the spread of the fire, protecting part of the home from more severe damage.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
