Fire ratings drop at two fire stations in Harrison County
Two additional Harrison County fire stations located in district three have received a decrease in ratings from the Mississippi State Rating Bureau.
The West Harrison Fire Department (station 6) in Pass Christian dropped one point from a seven rating to a six.
Cuevas Fire and Rescue (station 13), also in Pass Christian, dropped one point from an eight-rating to a seven.
The Mississippi State Rating Bureau rates the state’s fire stations on a scale of 1-10 with a one being the ideal rating.
The ratings have a direct impact on the insurance rates paid by homeowners based on several factors including firefighter response time, training, and keeping of records. Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan said, “We want to see lower ratings to attract more businesses, to attract industry, the lower our ratings go the more benefits those businesses and industries receive because of that lower rating and the reduction absolutely attracts businesses that say we want to come to an area that we know has good protection, the ratings are low, and our benefits are going to be great.”
If you receive services from West Harrison or Cuevas you may want to let your insurance company know about the reduction.
