Fire at Grande View Apartments

A fire broke out at a Grande View apartment today in Biloxi causing damage.

The call came in at 11:16 a.m. and Biloxi Fire Department was on the scene with multiple units shortly after. The fire started and was confined in a third level Grande View Apartment at 151 Grande View Drive in Biloxi.

There was no one inside the apartment at the time of the fire. The damage to the apartment was confined to one room. There was a neighboring apartment whose power went out. It could have been much worse if not for the quick response. Battalion Chief Stephen Strickler said, “It’s gonna have some structural damage just due to the amount of smoke and fire that was there, but with that being said, it is salvageable. The apartment is salvageable with some reconstruction.”

Battalion Chief Strickler tells News 25 that within 10 to 15 minutes of unit arrival, the fire was under control. “With the amount of smoke that was coming out of these apartments and the amount of fire, they had a very good knock down to it. They were on top of it fast.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
