Fire Destroys Mobile Home in Saucier
Flames and heavy smoke ripped through a mobile home early this morning in Saucier.
Shortly after 6 a.m. the Harrison County Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a trailer engulfed in flames. Crews did have the fire under control in about an hour and a half, but the trailer was a complete loss.
Fortunately, Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan tells News 25 the trailer appears to be vacant and nothing in the trailer indicated anyone was living there.
Taking out this fire was no easy task and was a team effort. Numerous crews were on the scene, including the Lizana and Saucier Fire and Rescue Team. “It’s a very intensive, labor intensive, dangerous job and you have to get your equipment on, you have to get inside and you have to bring your own water with you because we don’t have hydrants out in this area. So, it’s a combination of needing man power and needing the water resources,” said Chief Sullivan.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and fire marshal’s office are working together to determine the cause of the fire.
