Fire Destorys Family Home

After a fire completely destroy a Gulfport home, a local woman says she’s left trying to figure out the next step. Tari Smith stood over ashes and burnt leftovers of what was once her father’s house on Mills Avenue.  The Gulfport fire department rushed to the scene around seven thirty Saturday night. Smith says her brother is the only one that lived at the home and fortunately he was out of the house at the time. Smith tells News 25 she was called about the fire by a friend. She says she raced there and saw the house as well as family memories go up in smoke. “Really more concerned because my brother was the one staying at the house. I was a very old house. I mean it done been through Camille, Katrina it stood its ground, but it just couldn’t hold up to this.” The cause of the blaze is still under investigation by the Gulfport fire.
