Fire damages historic home in Biloxi
Tense moments for a Biloxi man as firefighters battle a blaze at his home.
Anthony Gazzo has lived in this home on Crawford Street his whole life, but at about 5:30 this afternoon, the back part of the home caught fire.
Director of the Biloxi Fire Department Chief Mark Dronet tells News 25 when units arrived to the scene the fire was billowing out of the back part of the house.
Gazzo says he’s happy most of the house is salvageable, but it was scary facing the fact of possibly losing his family’s history. “I’ve been living in this house for 40 years. I raised all my kids in that house and it is 106 years old and something caught fire in the back part of the house. I tried to put it out myself, but it got out of control so I called 911.”
No injuries were reported, but Gazzo lost a litter of kittens to the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown. If you would like to make a donation you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
