Fill the Bus School Supply Drive

School may not be back in session for about a month, but it is once again time to fill the bus.
The United Way of South Mississippi is asking community members to head to their nearest Wal-Mart to donate school supplies. The Fill the Bus school supply drive is a way for the United Way to do their part to make sure students in our area can read, learn and succeed. The drive will last from now until July 31st.
While it is the students who will be using the supplies, teachers in the area may be just as excited to receive the donations. United Way of South MS Director of Marketing and Communications Sam Evans said, “They love it. They actually come out day of. July 29th we’ll be at the Wal-Marts filling them up. The schools come out. The cheerleaders come out. It’s just really exciting and everybody really has a blast. We’re lucky to have a couple of great partners in the Junior Auxiliary at Gulfport and Wal-Mart who make it really easy for us.”
Harrison, Hancock, Stone and Pearl River County Wal-Marts will all be participating. There you can also find a full list of needed supplies.
