Fifth annual Health and Wellness Fair
The City of Gulfport wants kids to get their brains and bodies moving this weekend for a health and wellness fair.
Every child who attends receives a free drawstring backpack filled with school supplies. Over 50 vendors will be underneath the Barksdale Pavilion with health and fitness information for parents. Live performances are scheduled for the event featuring music and dancing.
City officials tell News 25 this is another free event parents and kids should take advantage of before the school year begins. Chris Vignes with City of Gulfport Public Relations said, “It’s so much going on right now and there’s a lot of excitement there for getting back to school. There’s free supplies, free information. It’s a good way to start off the year and get everyone on track and get ready for what’s coming up.”
There will also be bounce houses, a fitness instructor, and an imagination playground for kids to enjoy. The fair takes place underneath the Barksdale Pavilion from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday.
Students in the Gulfport School District head back to class at the end of next week.
