Fifth annual Frida Fest in Bay St. Louis

The streets of downtown Bay St. Louis will be bright with Mexican fever come Saturday for the fifth annual Frida Fest!

This is a free event and is a community driven, grass roots effort to celebrate the art of Frida Kahlo and Mexico.

Artists from all over South Mississippi and throughout the Coast will be featured in this Frida Festival.

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her many works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico.

One of Frida’s iconic looks was that she had a unibrow and wore flower crowns so festival attendees like to recreate that look.

There will be art vendors, food, and a costume contest. Featured artist Julia Reyes said, “I have never seen anything like it. I mean, it is definitely worth seeing the way that the whole area is transformed and just the colors and the costumes are worth coming out for. It’s really beautiful.”

The festival kicks off at 4 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m.
