Festival of Lights at MGCCC Perkinston
A silent auction, musical performances, rides and games galore. MGCCC’s Perkinston campus provided fun for the whole family to enjoy tonight with its annual Festival of Lights.
This is the 18th year for the festival and tonight’s cold weather did not stop thousands of people from attending the holiday tradition. Families and students enjoyed a parade, giant ferris wheel, and unusually tasty treats like chocolate covered bacon.
Vice President of the campus Dr. Ladd Taylor says the Festival of Lights is a win-win event. “It’s becoming common knowledge that the first or second weekend in December, it’s Festival of Lights time. Then we have student organizations who are out here raising money, selling hamburgers, selling hot chocolate, funnel cakes, probably some fried Oreos.”
Train rides, outdoor movies, and a Santa chase are just a few of the many other attractions at tonight’s festival.
