Female duo earns entrepreneur grant for their business Coastal City Goods

Looking for gifts for family and friends this holiday season that captures the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast? Look no further than Coastal City Goods.

Two local businesswomen are taking the Mississippi Gulf Coast by storm with their coastal inspired designs. Co-founders Andrea Brokamp and Daphne Eagle first met at an event held by Keesler Air Force Base to welcome and connect new military spouses.

Shortly after, Brokamp and Eagle teamed up to create products that illustrated the beauty of their new home through their business Coastal City Goods. Eagle said, “You know with her business background and my art background it just kind of clicked. We were like why don’t we start a really cool premium gift and apparel company.”

Brokamp said, “And it started as a little passion project. Just something we thought, you know, that was filling a void for the area. We didn’t think we that there were a lot of unique and nice souvenirs.”

Another reason the female business duo started Coastal City Goods was to show off views around the Coast and the local lifestyle to family out of town. “Honestly, being in such a beautiful coastal city, it’s easy to find beautiful motifs to draw and be inspired by, whether it’s the oak trees or the docks, the water, the sunsets. There’s no lack of inspiration here.”

Brokamp and Eagle recently received the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Women Entrepreneur grant, recognizing Coast City’s growth and expansion since its founding two years ago. “It has given us an opportunity actually to really to get more involved in the community and meet so many amazing people. And it’s really wonderful to see how much community support we’ve gotten.”

The pair are also doing their part to support local businesswomen by partnering with other female-founded companies on the Coast. “We released a collaboration with a local potter, Wolf Lily Ceramics based out of Pascagoula, to create our own line of Mississippi Gulf Coast coffee mugs.”

Coastal City Goods is a completely online business. All of their merchandise can be found at coastalcitygoods.com.
