Feet and Paws for a Cause

Dogs of all shapes and sizes, along with their owners, took part in the first ever Feet and Paws for a Cause 5K run and walk in Gulfport Saturday.
All pups strutted and wiggled their tails all the way to the finish line. There even was a best trick and best dance competition at the end of the race. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Gulf Coast Search and Rescue Team.
The group trains rescue dogs who spring into action to assist with searches all around the Coast. Gulf Coast Search and Rescue Spokesperson Owen Hines said, “This is the first time we have had a fundraiser like this. Typically we have a little raffle or something like that to help raise funds. We have a lot of equipment, trucks, and things that we need to maintain and again all of our members are volunteers so we dig into our own pockets a lot. It’s nice to have the local people turn out and help support us.”
About 200 runners took part in the 5K this year.
